MetaMask is launching a powerful new way to experience blockchain in your everyday life — the MetaMask Card. With MetaMask Card, your self-custodial MetaMask wallet meets the worldwide accessibility of Mastercard transactions.
It's currently in a pilot phase and is only available to MetaMask users in the UK, the EEA, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and the US (excluding New York and Vermont). You can't buy cold beer with Metamask card everywhere yet.
What kind of card is Metamask Card?
The MetaMask card is a debit card, not a credit card. This is offered in partnership with @Mastercard and @BaanxGroup, allowing you to use your crypto for instant payments while earning 1% cash back. The card comes as both a physical metal card and is compatible with Apple Wallet.
How does it work?
The MetaMask card is a debit card that you associate with an on-chain account after passing KYC. During setup, you grant an on-chain approval with a specified spend limit to your wallet address.
If you are in the US, you can currently only spend USDC on @LineaBuild for the card. The on-chain approval you grant to Baanx allows them to instantly withdraw Linea USDC when you use the card for transactions.
You can manage the card, funds, and spend limit directly from the Metamask card dashboard. It's straightforward and user-friendly.

What's a spending limit?
Let's make sure everyone understands what a spending limit is, as this is extremely important for security with this card and in web3 approvals.
When interacting with a smart contract and tokens, you can give approval in two ways:
Automatically approve spending:
This grants permission for maximum withdrawal of USDC, meaning you're not setting a limit and the contract can use all your USDC on Linea any time you use the card.
Approve a specific limit:
This means you specify a spending limit. For example, if you have $1,000 USDC on Linea and only want to allow spending of $500, you set that specific limit. Once that $500 is spent, your balance becomes $500 USDC with a $0 spending limit. To spend the remaining $500, you'll need to pay gas fees to increase your spending limit for the remaining USDC.
Example of transaction
User reported that he used this card several times, including with the physical card, Apple Wallet tap-to-pay, and on Apple Watch. Hasn’t had a single payment denied (which happened with other cards previously), and you can see the transaction instantly as the payment completes—which is great.
You should be aware, that each transaction does cost gas.

Security Tips
We recommend associating this card with a wallet address on a hardware wallet specifically created and used only for the purpose of this card.
